In Ipswich we have farms that open their gates for you to explore, either choose one to visit on a day trip or make a weekend out of it and stay at one for the night.

Haigslea Ewe Nique Hobby Farm

Start with a morning session on Saturday at Ewe Nique Hobby Farm.  This authentic farm lets you pet and feed the animals including sheep, lambs, alpacas, goats, chicken and geese for 90 minutes.  You can also meet farmers Penny and Dave and find out more about the animals and what life is like on the farm.

Watercress Creek Olives and Limes picnic

Your next stop is only 15 minutes away at Watercress Creek Olives and Limes in Pine Mountain.

Picnic packs are available to purchase with a range of olives and spreads all made from the produce grown onsite. After you’ve wandered the grove, stock up on olive oils, tapenades, jams and relishes to take home.

The Llama Farm guided walk

Next, you’ll be walking a llama at the home of Queensland’s largest herd of llamas! The Llama Farm, located only 20 minutes from Watercress Creek Olives and Limes, runs tours on weekends including a morning farm tour and afternoon llama walks! The walk is spectacular along a purpose-built trail leading down to the Brisbane River, which backs onto the property. Take a selfie with a friendly llama and learn their names from farmer Shane Hancock.

The farm is also home to donkeys, goats, rabbits, miniature ponies, peacocks and camels.

Pocket Retreats

Spend the night at a farm stay nearby. Just eight minutes away you will find Pocket Retreats set on a 120 acre cattle farm. This property also has exclusive access to a beautiful section of the Brisbane River.

Another farm stay option is Tallavalley Farm B&B, a three-bedroom cottage on a working farm at Tallegalla. The cottage features a deck overlooking the gardens and surrounding farmland. Here you can make friends with the resident horses, goats and cows.

Summer Land Camels | Ipswich

The next morning either drive to Mysteria Aplacas in Grandchester, Summer Land Camels in nearby Harrisville or Naughty Little Kids in Peak Crossing.

Meet the friendly alpacas, camels or goats at these farms, or take a tour to learn about camel milk or goats milk products. At Summer Land Camels you can also book in to ride a camel, or enjoy lunch in the cafe.
