Surrender to the fiery, fresh and oh so tantalising flavours of South America at La Parrilla restaurant in North Ipswich.
Chef Sebastian Brun and his Colombian born wife Carolina Gomez opened their bright little restaurant to share the flavours of Carolina’s homeland and have earned regular visitors from across the south-east!
Sebastian says the flavours are defined by the smokiness and tenderness that many already love in the popular American barbecue scene but with light fresh and sparky salsas replacing the usual sauces and slaws.
The offerings here are truly hearty. Try the Picada (Mixed Grill) for a taste of everything like wood fired pork, barbecue chicken and grilled chorizo with a petite salad, baby potatoes, cassava wedges, grilled corn cob and salsa aji.
The pork is slow cooked for several hours over hickory wood. A Porterhouse steak is served with a fresh herbaceous chimichurri and all the sides.
Nachos, fried chicken wings and loaded fries have all been given a La Parrilla twist. Check in the fridge for authentic South American soft drinks to complete your meal.
