When it gets hots this summer, head to the city of Ipswich, just 30 minutes from Brisbane. That’s because the local city council has opened a big selection of FREE water parks that are suitable for families and great for kids of all ages, even little toddlers.

Bob Gamble Park is in the River Heart Parklands has a zero-depth water pool for the kids and plenty of other activities like flying foxes, slides, a discovery forest and much more.

The Splash ’n’ Play Water Park at South Ripley has a big range of aqua-activities on offer as well as traditional slides and swings. There’s also a great café on site.

In Springfield Central, the Robelle Domain is a jewel in the crown for the city of Ipswich. It has a zero-depth water park for little kids, as well as a rainforest walk, bike tracks and more.

The domain’s most popular feature is Orion Lagoon. It’s a vast expanse of shallow pools and water features with lifeguards on patrol. There’s also a café on site.

*The newest water play area in Ipswich can be found at Tulmur Place in the new Nicholas St precinct and includes a giant waterfall area.
