Reaper challenge
The Pumpyard Bar and Brewery’s Head Chef Shawn has put the call out those brave enough to try the Reaper Challenge.
Shawn is passionate about delivering food at maximum heat, that still tastes amazing and uses Reaper chillies in his cooking.
He’s a native New Yorker and his cooking repertoire has covered everything from high end fine dining, to classic Australian pub fare. His menu showcases his love of southern style comfort food with his passion for BBQ and beer!
The challenge, if you can handle it, is 3 reaper sliders, 3 reaper wings and 1 scoop of reaper ice cream – if you can finish it in five minutes you can win a $30 venue voucher and you’ll go on the wall of fame!
Bush tucker workshop
This month you can learn about bush tucker and native plants thanks to a workshop at Trevallan Lifestyle Centre.
Trevallan have partnered with The Mountain Man to lead the workshop, he will detail Australian native bush tucker plants growth, use in garden design and uses in the kitchen.
Workshops are being held on Wednesday September 9 and Saturday September 26, book now.
V8 Race Experience
Get in the driver’s seat this Father’s Day (September 6) with a V8 Race Experience. There’s Holden, Ford and the new Mustang to try out.
The next date will be September 19.
Saturday Sounds
Every Saturday night you can enjoy live music in the Riverlink dining and entertainment precinct.
The music starts at 5pm and goes until 8pm. The first one in September will be on Saturday the 12th, then the 19th and 26th.
Biggy P and Tyronne Noonan
Over the weekend of September 18 and 19 see Biggy P and Tyrone Noonan on stage at Brothers Leagues Club.
Biggy P will be on stage on Friday Sept 18 from 7.30pm performing acoustic rock with a deep, soulful voice.
Then on Saturday night see Aria winner Tyrone Noonan who is best known for his vocals, guitar, keyboard and songwriting combining pop, rock, soul and reggae!
City lights walk
The city lights twinkling in the distance will beckon you to join this VIP walking tour with access to the Conservation Estate at dusk.
Brisbane City will provide the perfect backdrop for a well-deserved rest stop after learning about the history of White Rock – Spring Mountain and refuel on delicious nibbles, sweets, cheese, crackers, and beverages.
The tour stops at the main ridge lookout that takes in the wondrous landscape stretching from Springfield to Mount Cootha and due North West, spy the runways of RAAF Base Amberley from afar.
Switch the torches on for the hike back and spot the locals as they come to life along the forest floor and among the trees. Creep along the soft moonlit trails that will guide you back to the beginning of this wondrous walking adventure with Discover Ipswich.
Live! at the Baptist ft Josh Lovegrove
See Josh Lovegrove and friends Aiden Bradley and Jarrad Wrigley peforming indie folk tunes on Saturday September 19 at Studio 188.
Tickets cost $35 and include two drinks (beer/wine/softdrink).
99 Bikes Cycle and Trail Run Epic
This year’s 99 Bikes Cycle Epic takes place over September 19 and 20 on the trails at Hidden Vale Adventure Park. Book your place now for the Epic weekend with something for everyone from walking to riding, the novice to professionals.
Spring Race Day
The Ipswich Cup Spring Race Day is set to be a great day of racing and fashion at the Ipswich Turf Club. General admissions are limited to first in the gate, the event runs from 12pm to 5pm on September 19.
Fashions on the field will be running as well as raffles, the event is supporting the Rotary Club of Ipswich City.
Round Mountain Girls
You can see the band Round Mountain Girls at the Commercial Hotel Redbank on Sunday September 20 from 2pm-10pm.
Kenda Radial Redemption
If you’ve been missing drag racing then this is the event for you. The Kenda Radial Redemption gets underway with testing on September 24 and 25 and the competition starts around noon on September 26.
Dave Gray and Deon Powter
Dave Gray will take the Brothers Leagues Club lounge stage on Friday September 25 from 7.30pm. Dave is the face and voice behind Australia’s number one tribute to the Be Gees internationally acclaimed show UK Bee Geez.
On Saturday night September 26 Deon Powter will be in the lounge from 7.30pm presenting the best of the 80s and beyond.
Ivory’s Rock circuit hike
Explore the geological wonders of Ivory’s Rock, Peak Crossing, with an experienced trail guide from Horizon Guides on September 26. Traversing up to the base and around the main peaks the trail gives access to wonderful views and many points of geologic interest as well as varying flora and fauna habitats around the cliffs and caves of the peaks. The hike takes about 5 hours to complete and is suited to kids aged 10 and up.
Dami Im
Singer songwriter Dami Im is set to release her new single Paper Dragon, with the timing and its lyrics telling about where she’s at right now. You can expect to see an array of established hits and fan favourites from X Factor, power ballad and international Eurovision smash, Sound of Silence and a mix of new material including Paper Dragon. Dami Im is one of Australia’s most respected artists. A piano virtuoso, she also has a Master of Music Studies in Contemporary Voice, and first captured our attention and hearts when she won The X Factor Australia in 2013.
Beers Bubbles and Brunch
Join the Ipswich Turf Club for their second Beers, Bubbles and Brunch event on Sunday September 27.
Enjoy live entertainment and a selection of decadent foods from 11am-2pm.
On arrival enjoy fresh fruit, pastries and Bircher muesli, followed by Spanish frittata with carmelised onion, smoked salmon ans asparagus and a bacon and sweetcorn hash with guacamole, heirloom tomato and chimchurri.
To finish there will be strawberry breads, caramel doughnut, fresh scones and profiteroles.
Tickets are $50 per person. Bookings are essential.
Hops and Hounds
On the last Sunday of every month The Pumpyard Bar and Brewery is holding Hops and Hounds.
It’s a dog friendly day with house made doggy treats that use the spent grain from the brewing process – saving them from going into landfill.
